Jack Wakes Up picked up by CROWN!
It seems that one large press sees some serious potential from authors who build their audience by making serialized free audiobook versions available to the public. I’ve just learned that Jack Wakes Up — originally picked up by Breakneck Books — has been purchased by Crown/Random House for a 2009 release!
If you think this is a repeat story, you’re mistaken. Yes, we did just talk about a huge “bumrush the charts” effort to this book on Amazon.com last month. Well… it seems to have paid off. Seth says:
…after we rocked Amazon.com on “Palms Sunday”, [my first agent] came into the mix and we wound up re-pitching Jack Wakes Up to editors in NYC. Julian Pavia from Crown read it and loved it, plus the SF Chronicle articles helped draw more interest, so we sold the book!
So if you’re like me and bought a copy of JWU from Amazon, you’re holding onto a collector’s edition. Those will *all* be coming down soon, as you might imagine. And damn… now I have another book to buy!
I can’t tell you enough how this pleases me. It helps vindicate the whole reason we started this crazy idea in the first place. And wouldn’t you know… it’s working. I’ll sleep like a baby tonight, and dream which of my authors will have this happen to them next!

Congrats, Seth!
The most amazing part of all this recent rush is to see so many fans getting together and making things happen. Rawk on, podosphere.
