Ancient Prophecy, Book 3 of the Targa Trilogy

The third book in Richard S. Tuttle’s Targa trilogy is now starting up: Ancient Prophecy.

Ages ago, elves and dwarves unknowingly migrated between Universes via a Junction. Jenneva and Egam believe they have found a Junction and plan a trip with Alexander to test the theory and investigate the origins of the elves and dwarves. Because they believe that the perennial animosity between the two races is due to misunderstandings about their histories, the mages include the prince of elves and the prince of dwarves in the group. Trouble begins at the very start of the journey as Egam falters going through the Junction, awakening an old nemesis, the evil demon, Alutar. It appears that the excursion will not just clarify history, but actually change it. As the group discovers they are trapped in the new Universe, the shocking truth of the real history of the races is overshadowed by impending doom as an ancient prophecy begins to unfold. Meanwhile, the evil sorcerer, Sarac, not only gains freedom from his imprisonment, but also gains the blessing of the evil demon, Alutar. With the blessing, Sarac is given new powers and is promised a reign of a thousand years. The race is on to prevent Sarac from unfettered control of the Universes, as our trio stands incapable of altering the prophecy of destruction.

Your series rocks, i blazed through it in a week, i’m starving for more episodes. Thanks for the 3 a.m, can’t stop listening nights. :P

  2. Richard S. Tuttle Says:

Ronald, thanks for the comment. I am glad that you are enjoying the series. I know that 3 a.m. feeling well. I wrote the Targa Trilogy over a decade ago, and recording it allowed me to enjoy it once again. I now spend my nights recording the Sword of Heavens series which is the sequel series to the Targa Trilogy. It has been many nights of enjoyment for me. It is like visiting old friends that I haven’t seen in a long time.

  3. Ronald Says:

Thank God then that you got around to it. I haven’t downloaded the third book yet becuase I’m one of those binge listiners, I wait for the completion and the listen to the whole thing in a marathon, so again looking forward to this part.

  4. Lynn Says:

I loved the first two books and I’m pretty far into this one. When is it going to be finished?

  5. Richard S. Tuttle Says:

There are 20 chapters in Ancient Prophecy, so you are almost at the end. Enjoy!

  6. Steven Says:

when will the sequel be out for the targa triligy

  7. Richard S. Tuttle Says:

Sapphire of the Fairies, Book 1 of Sword of Heavens, was released in MP3 format on November 15, 2008. It is available in libraries and web stores (including rstuttle.com). There are currently no plans to release it on podiobooks.com.

At this time, all of the Sword of Heavens series has been released in MP3 format, and the first two volumes of the Demonstone Chronicles have also been released. The other five volumes of the Demonstone Chronicles will be released as they are recorded.

Council of War, Book 3 of the Demonstone Chronicles, is scheduled for release on February 1, 2010.

  8. Angela Says:

Truly fantastic : ). Thank you so much. My only disappointment is that it’s over..
To find out what happens next, I have to seek out Sapphire of the Fairies? Please say yes, I can’t bear to think that this might be the end.

  9. Richard S. Tuttle Says:

    Yes!

The Targa Trilogy is only the beginning.

The Sword of Heavens series, beginning with Sapphire of the Fairies, starts 17 years after the conclusion of the Targa Trilogy. It is the story of the lost children and how they fulfill the Ancient Prophecy.

  10. Jim Fleming Says:

Richard, I’m Jim Fleming, I’m a 57 year old man, and Sir, I’d love to leave you a review.

Yes, I’m 57, a retired Military Veteran, (aka an old fart!) and Sir, you’ve written and narrated an epic. A Great Epic, I should say. You did a good job, and I have enjoyed every second of the Targa Trilogy. EVERY SECOND, I say!

You did quite well with the narration of the book’s contents. However the next comment is NOT to be construed as negative in anyway about the book and narration of the book, it’s characters, the plot(s), and the story line(s)

With regard to the introductions to each chapter (they were not part of the book! I know!) personally I thought were pretty lame. I know you had to add them for advertising reasons.

Richard, I can offer no greater praise than the following: I just now downloaded from your site the entire Sword of Heaven series. (think about it!)

Good Job, and this is meant to be an entirely positive review.

  11. Richard S. Tuttle Says:

Jim, thanks for the great review and thank you for your service!

If you liked the Targa Trilogy, you will love the Sword of Heavens series.

The chapter introductions exist only in the podcast versions as each chapter is distributed independently. Outside of the podcasts, the introduction is only present before the first chapter of a book as an identifier.

Mr. Tuttle has a great collection of audiobooks. My husband and I have enjoyed listening to them all and look forward to purchasing more novels to continue the journey. Start with his first part of the trilogy and you will be hooked too!

Thank you, Mr. Tuttle for putting yourself out there. :o )

  13. Richard S. Tuttle Says:

    Thank you, Laura.

I am currently editing the audio for the final volume in the Alcea Collection, Alutar: the Great Demon. It is another long volume, so it will take a bit of time to complete, but I am putting all of my efforts into completing as soon as possible.

    Thank you for your patronage!

  14. Jordan Says:

I am a little over halfway through Dark Quest, and eagerly awaiting to get into Ancient Prophecy as soon as I finish the second book. I am curious of something though. Are you planning on releasing more books though Podiobooks? I only ask so I can look forward to them appearing in the lists and eagerly grab them to make a LONG commute much more enjoyable.

So far the story has been wonderful, great cliff hanging between episodes, wonderful character, etc. It’s definitely a wonderful story getting better each episode!

    Sincerely,
    Jordan

  15. Richard S. Tuttle Says:

    Hi Jordan,

Glad you are enjoying the stories. I have published 27 fantasy books so far, and 18 of them have been released in audio, but only the 3 books of the Targa Trilogy are available on Podiobooks. The others are available at http://estore.rstuttle.com and various other outlets on the web.

I currently have no plans to offer the other series on Podiobooks, but I have setup a coupon code at my estore for podiobook listeners. If you enter the word podiobooks in the coupon code when checking out, the estore will give you a 25% discount on everything except items already on special.

As for long commutes, the three books of the Targa Trilogy are short compared to the others. The audio length of my books so far is over 255 hours and growing. Enjoy!
