Some Other Scotland
Mick Bordet hits the site today, telling the tale of his home land, Scotland. But this isn’t the Scotland you’re used to. Ah, the beauty of alternate history! Check out Some Other Scotland:
Gravestones across Scotland are being defaced. An ancient advanced civilisation is discovered under the remains of Skara Brae. Bonnie Prince Charlie returns to Scotland, two hundred years after his death. Edinburgh police unearth a mysterious surveillance operation on the Queen’s residence and the Scottish Parliament. All these events take place in a Scotland which is both familiar and yet slightly twisted.
Detective Jim Sykes’ investigation into hidden cameras and a long-dead pretender to the throne uncovers a sinister plot that dates back centuries before the term ‘terrorism’ was coined. Archaeologist Erica Wallis digs up more than she bargained for when she encounters an underground civilisation that has existed since before the pyramids of Egypt were built. When one of their misplaced, but deadly artifacts falls into the hands of young street-poet ‘Razer’, he is launched into the middle of a clan war that has been waged across the World for millenia.
Events triggered thousands of years ago are about to reach a climax that not only threatens Scotland, but could finally hand the modern World the tools of its own destruction.
Mick has been kind enough to put the first 12 episodes on the site to start. He’ll be adding more until the 52 or so episodes are all available. If you want Mick to decide how often you should listen, and to how many episodes, get the default feed. Or if you want to take control and get them delivered one at a time on your own schedule, a custom feed is for you. Either way, it’s another free audiobook!

The cover looks like a Rorschach test. I love it.

I found this podcast online and have enjoyed every episode. Mick Bordet uses the history we were taught in school but adds a few twists. Follow his detectives and archaeologists as they uncover a hidden society filled with mysteries. This is a new style of writing, readers are invited to go to Some Other Scotland website and partake in the direction of the story.

I wait eagerly for every episode and have friends who do the same. I will guide others here to listen to this tale filled with humor and intrigue.

Gorgeous voice. I had to start again as I lost myself in the chocolatey Scottish accent

It’s been nearly six months since the last episode was released. Are we ever going to see another?

Thank you all for the feedback on SOS. After an unintended hiatus, I am pleased to say that the podcast has returned with a regular schedule.
I have also re-recorded episode 5, so the narration is all mine across all episodes now.
Finally, to update the link that Arlene provides, the website (and wiki with lots of background information) is available at http://someotherscotland.com
I hope you enjoy the rest of the story!

I have just started to download your book ‘Some Other Scotland ‘ and just noticed that nothing has been posted since last October. Have you abandoned the project or do you intend to complete it. Please let me know as I see no pleasure in starting a book and not having an end to it. (Like a lot of American series
)

Hi Terry. I have just posted another episode and am working to return to a more regular schedule of releases (every two weeks would be ideal). The story _will_ be completed as there is still quite a journey ahead for the characters.

Some of you were sharp enough to notice dates on the episodes, I didn’t. Still, all is well as updates have resumed.
I like the title, I enjoy the narration, and I just realized this is a good point for me to start over to see if I can follow the story through all its twists and turns. (For the record, let me stress how much I enjoy not knowing where the story will go!)
I got the RSS feed, and see episode 23, but it will not load. It’s kind of like a promise, so I do not despair.
Nice job, Mick!

Hi Gail
Thank you for your feedback about the podcast. Episode 23 has been available for a couple of days on the main feed at http://someotherscotland.com, but has not yet been activated by podiobooks. It can take a day or two to show up there, so I will keep an eye on it for you.

Sorry, very important omission from my last message. I meant American TV series. (Don’t want to upset the excellent authors here)
