Dragon Ore
Today Brian Rathbone starts the ending of his Dawning of Power trilogy. He’s now releasing the third book, Dragon Ore:
Clinging to life, Catrin Volker struggles to regain her strength as her foes go in search of even greater power. Ancient enemies threaten and forgotten alliances emerge in the exciting conclusion of The Dawning of Power trilogy.
If you’re new to the trilogy, check out the other books first. If you’re up to speed, choose your listening option. Take the default feed if you wish, though Brian likes to dump lots of episodes at once. To make sure you get them one at a time, grab a custom feed. Either way, it’s a free audiobook!

It’s hard to believe the speed at which you’re getting these recorded, Brian. It’s really quite impressive. Thanks for all the hard work you’re putting in to get it done.
I really dig the series so far, and can’t wait to find out what happens next.

Hi Jesse. I appreciate the support! It’s been a real challenge at times, but I was determined to make all three available as soon as I possibly could. It’s been my pleasure, and feedback from you and others helps inspire me to get to work on the next project! Thank you. I hope you enjoy Dragon Ore!

Brian this was truly excellent work. In the first book the narration was a little rough, but you smoothed it our nicely in the second book and by the time Dragon Ore came out I was completely hooked on the story. Excellent writting, pretty darn good narration and a wonderful adventure story. Thank you for your work. I enjoyed it immensely.

Very very enjoyable. Interesting characters and a story full of adventure. Plotting provided a number of twists that kept me engaged. The writing style is just right – great description without going overboard. The minimal time taken to deliver the three books has been amazing. Thank you!!

John,
Thank you for the feedback. I definitely learned a lot along the way, and I hope to rerecord a good bit of CotH. I’m very glad you enjoyed the story, and I look forward to bringing you more in the future!
Genevere,
It was a challenge getting these released so quickly, but I knew it was in everybody’s best interest to have it all available ASAP. Hearing back from so many wonderful people has let me know that it was time and effort well spent. Thanks!

Just finished the book this morning. I really enjoyed the whole trilogy, and I look forward to hearing more from you in the future. Thanks again for working so hard to get it to us so quickly.

Thanks Mike. I’m glad to hear you enjoyed it. I’ll look forward to continuing the series. Thanks again!
Jesse, Thanks so much. I really appreciate it. Though I’ll admit that next time, I’ll be doing it one book at a time

Brian, I’ve been listening to book 3 of Dragon Ore (without having heard 1 or 2) and am thoroughly enjoying it. You’re an excellent story teller, and I hope we “hear” more from you in the near future.

What an incredible story this has been. It is one of the better series that I’ve had the pleasure of reading. At first I was kind of hesitant with his voice. I’ll admit that as he told the story he only got better and the production quality and background noises disappeared by the middle of the second book. The way he brought all of the characters out, was so natural and soothing and yet, suspenseful with tension and heartfelt situations.
The only problem I had was that Rathbone left me wanting allot more! I could have listened to another 12 or more books. Is Brian Rathbone the next Robert Jordan, giving his listener more and more longer stories that suck them in and won’t let them out? The good part is that Rathbone brought a conclusion and left it so that the reader wants more. It makes me think of what else he could produced and where he could go with this cast of characters and the world he so carefully built. I cannot say enough about how much I enjoyed this series. Thank you Brain Rathbone for putting it out there in a podcast at podiobooks.com
All 3 podcasts are in a print version in 1 book titled The Dawning of Power and are available at amazon.com and smashwords.com in digital formats. This is a must read if you like fantasy.
While listening to him live on blog talk radio podioracket.com he did mention he might go back and write another book. You can listen to here or at the flowing links. I hear he is coming back to the show in October. He is an amazing author and nice guy.

Brian-thank you so much. Excellent adventure. I really enjoyed all three books and listened again to the first two books before starting Dragon Ore.The imagination you put into the adventure is amazing keeping me excited for more. I loved the charactors & how they related to each other. Your narration is the best, the right speed and clarity, along with excellent annuciation. You descriptions were very detailed but not overboard allowing me to form a picture in my head. Even the dark parts of the story did not stay dark there was always happy (sunny) parts put in not leaving you feeling all is lost all the time. I have listened to other books that I could not finish as the trials were totally dark & depressing.
I listen at work and unless I missed something I was wondering did Catrine’s nails & burnt skin grow back? Also I was looking for a time line of how long she and her companions were on this amazing adventure. Oh and I will listen to the triligy again.
I will recommend all three books to anyone I talk with and look forward to more works from you. Thank you again – loved them all.

Solid Granite,
Thanks so much for the feedback. Listening to the third book first had to be an interesting experience. I’m glad it was able to stand on its own. I’ll look forward to bringing you more in the future!

Mark,
Thanks so much for your kind words. It really means a lot me. I’m working on rerecording many of the early episodes and look forward to providing future listeners with a better overall experience. I’m also looking forward to being on Podioracket again soon!
I can also tell you that The World of Godsland fantasy series is planned to include five trilogies. Each one will tell a complete story and have a proper ending and yet will leave room for something more. I’ve already started working on Volkerhold: Book One of The Balance of Power trilogy.

AngelEyes,
I’m so glad that you enjoyed the story enough to listen more than once. That’s a very nice compliment. Thank you.
Regarding your very astute questions:
Catrin’s nails did grow back. Her skin is whole and not scarred but is never quite the same again. It’s sort of cracked like the floor of a dried lake bed, and she thinks it makes her look like an old woman. I say she looks fine, but what do I know. Men!
Hmm. The timeline. I have that mapped out somewhere but I’m going to quickly add it up in my head and give you a round about. I could dig up the actual number, but it’s in a drawer that has poisonous spiders in it, and my flame thrower is on the blink. I believe the elapsed time was just under four years.
Thank you again for your feedback, and I hope you enjoy the story just as much the next time around!

This is a fantastic set of books. Like earlier comments I look forward to seeing where Brian takes the story next. Is Catrin’s hair still white? as I don’t remember any reaction from people when she returned home although there was a lot going on at the time.
I too took a little while to get used to your accent and the audio in the first book but I’m from the UK so thats down to me not Brian but the story soon over came this and drew me in.
Thank you for your hard work in producing this excelent story and good luck with the next book.

Hi Mark,
.
Thanks so much for the feedback! Catrin’s hair is indeed still white. Word of her coming and the changes in her appearance preceded here to the Godfist. There was definitely a lot going on at that point
I agree that the narration improves a good bit after book one, and I’m not far from releasing a rerecorded version of Call of the Herald.

Very enjoyable. I used to be an avid reader, but my job in the oilfield means I am out 100+ hours a week, 30 or so are driving from site to site. I can still “read” a good book through my MP3 player, and these 3 books are really good books. Thank you for keeping me company.

Fantastic series, I really enjoyed them. I agree with the other comments about the production quality and reading in book one but either I got used to it or I way carried away with the story. Congratulations
