Time Crystal
Please join me in welcoming Wyken Seagrave to the site. He’s beginning the release process of his novel, Time Crystal:
The cosmic monopole has been wandering the Universe since the Big Bang. When it is finally trapped in CERN it triggers a disaster which will take fourteen-year-old Catriona O’Brien on an adventure back to the Big Bang and beyond in a desperate attempt to save the Universe from destruction.
Encompassing the whole history of the Universe and most branches of science, Time Crystal is an epic adventure story and romance that will hold you enthralled and show you new worlds both great and small which you have never even dreamed of.
It has taken nine years and cost over $1 million dollars for Wyken Seagrave to develop this fantastic and beautiful story. This truly is the greatest adventure in the history of the Universe!
Per our standard order, we’re releasing the first five episodes in the default feed. If you don’t want to have to back up and wish your feed just sent down new files automagically, get a custom feed and you’ll never have to worry about it. Either way, this is a free audiobook!

From today, 25 September 2009 Time Crystal will be supplemented by a sister podcast, the Art & Science of Time Crystal, available at http://www.podiobooks.com/title/art-and-science-of-time-crystal. Every week I will talk about some aspect of the story such as the characters, the science, the writing, the plotting.
It should be of interest to fans, to budding authors and to those trying to understand more about the science behind this epic adventure.

I always enjoy a good sci-fi story and this one was certainly different.
I was thrown off a little bit though because there was such a great introduction of the keen politically minded woman and her daughter and then the story shifted away from them for quite awhile and I felt a bit disjointed because of that.
I’m guessing a good edit and some more tie-ins could really bring this story up to the next level. I still enjoyed it though.

i was a bit conserned when the giant bee appeared in the first chapter, then i stuck it out throught the little girls voice in the early chapters, thinking she will grow up and the voice/personality will change .but it didnt. i couldnt stand the character in my ears after the sern disaster any longer.im sorry the story was great and the science was awsome like the other podio book on black holes “singularity” the subject is mind blowing and full of posibilities. i liked the stepfather mother daughter triangle it had great feel , but i just had to bail .

I just have to agree with Maharg. I think the story could be good but I will never find out because the assault to my eyes was more than I could take. The voice characterizations were too much for me, especially the German accents. It would have been better if he had read it straight without trying to do voices.

I tried and tried but could not make it past the first book.
I think I was up to 19th episode before I gave up.
The voice, couldn’t stand it but I can handle that if the story is good, which, for me, it wasn’t. When the bugs came on the scene, that’s when I finally deleted this entire audiobook and unsubscribed.

I should have paid attention to the other reviewers. I kept hoping that the story would improve, but it never did. Why do authors think that they have to have a trilogy? Note to budding authors-make sure each story stands on its own.

Wyken sounds like a really nice guy with a big heart. otherwise, i can’t see his friends and editors let him go through with this audio atrocity. People interested in checking out this story; you should read it rather than listen. that is the only hope this book has at getting a decent review. i hope the author re-records it, minus the intro/outro music that doesn’t fit, another narrator… and please please… leave out the painful bee voices. it’s like the soccer horn!

I almost never abandon a story, but I did this one after listening 3 hours. There are too many good stories and recordings to spend time on this one.

This is definitely not the greatest story in the history of the Universe. It’s one of the most disjointed, disappointing stories I’ve ever listened to on this site. I listened to the entire first volume hoping it would get better but it never did. I gave up on volume two after about four chapters. Honestly I’m not sure why I even bothered with volume two. I also do not understand how Wyken assumes that his story is better than anything J.K. Rowling has written just because the things in his story “could” actually happen. Reality is not what makes a good story. Good characters, great writing and a story that makes sense are some of the things that make a good story. This story doesn’t have any of that.
