One Fall

Please welcome Spencer Baum to the site, with his book One Fall:

With one kick, Joey Hamilton has sent the world of professional wrestling into chaos. In his first World Title match, on national television, Joey botched a simple maneuver, turning a scripted wrestling match into a nightmarish reality.

Now the World Champion is injured and the locker room is in tatters. With the top spot open, veteran wrestlers are jockeying for position, hoping to become the next megastar, and Joey is their target.

With a unique look behind the scenes at America’s most violent dramatic art, One Fall shows the world of professional wrestling in its rawest form.

The first five episodes are in the default feed per our standing order. If that works for you, go for it. Or if you want us to send you the episodes one at a time, take a custom feed.

I am not a huge wrestling fan, but am really enjoying this book. Looking forward to more. thanks.

I am a former wrestling fan, the last 15 years or so haven’t been worth watching, and so far this audio book does a good job of recreating the illusion while showing the framework its built on. Kinda like your parodies on actual wrestlers especially deep6/undertaker.

When will the book be done ?

  4. Spencer Says:

The climactic scene begins in the next episode. We’re two, maybe three episodes from completion.

There going to be a sequel?

  6. Spencer Says:

I haven’t yet written a sequel to One Fall, but it’s been on my mind. Other writing projects keep getting in the way. I’ll certainly be doing more Podiobooks, regardless. What a great site and community! Next time, I’ll record more episodes in advance to ensure smaller delays between postings.

Eagerly awaiting the completion of this book. So far so good! I loved the demon queen so I hope we see more of that also! Thanks!

Just finished listening to your latest chapter. Damn that was a good fight. If that had been a real match it woulda ranked pretty close to Hogan vs Ultimate Warrior.

  9. Spencer Says:

Thanks Olstar! I’ve been writing fiction my whole life, and have written many things since One Fall, but the big brawl in episode 22 remains my favorite scene I’ve ever written. So happy to hear you liked it. And yes, Hogan/Warrior was a classic. Years ago, I wrote a column for 411mania about what I consider the greatest wrestling match of all time. Linked below:

Just sucked down the book in about 3 days at work. Got the recommendation from the Geek Radio Daily podcast. Great story. Spencer did a great job of blending the wrestling world with the corporate world. I too was a fan when I was younger and started watching less and less as time went on. Very well written. Can’t wait to hear more from him

I just devoured the last episode this morning on my way to work. I used to be a Pro Wrestling fan when I was younger and I really enjoyed hearing about all the drama again and getting a peak behind the scenes. The corporate drama in this story was almost as exciting as the drama in the ring and Spencer Baum managed to spin some great intrigue and soap opera esque craziness into the wrestling corporate culture.

Congrats on finishing your most excellent book. You better tell me when it goes to print or I’ll beat you to within an inch of your life with my old hulk hogan action figure.
