Now releasing Dead Hunt by Kenn Crawford
Kenn Crawford leans on a cast of Who’s Who in the fiction podcasting world with the release of Dead Hunt as a free serialized audiobook:
Off the coast of Nova Scotia on a remote island, a lonely scientist, a powerful computer, a simple mistake. Unleashes a new threat, somewhere in the hills of Margaree.
“Dead Hunt” is Kenn Crawford’s chilling tale of a desperate father’s undying love, a daughter frozen in time, and the small group of teens trapped in the aftermath.
“Everyone makes mistakes. Some are small, some are bigger. My father’s mistake, born of an innocent heart and fueled by sadness, was the greatest mistake. Some thought the death of his little girl drove him to the point of insanity; some thought he was trying to be God. But, this is not how it happened. The truth is, he wanted to save me. To give me life. And, in doing so, everyone was doomed.” ~Robin
Dead Hunt is narrated by R.E. Chambliss (Dreaming of Deliverance), and features the voice talents of: Kimi Alexandre, Brian Brown, Ry Stevenson, Melissa Bartell, Erk and Kim Butler with special guest appearances by Andrew Ball, Arlene Radasky, Judy, Kristopher Lamont, Lindsey Burns, Lisa Tobias, Neil Stringer, Nobilis Reed, Randall Carruthers, Tom Storms and Featuring Rick Stringer of Variant Frequencies as the voice of Professor Patrick Heslin, and introducing “Robin” as herself.
The first five episodes are released, with more to come. If you choose a custom feed, you’ll get them all from the beginning, one at a time. The default feed is also available for those who like to fiddle.

I loved this book, Renee’s narration was beautiful [of course!] and the ending was really great and creepy.

The full cast audio and excellent audio mixing on top of a well developed story make this a real pleasure to listen too. I’m really interested to see where Dead Hunt 2 is able to go there are definitely a few loose ends that need to be tied up.

I had finished listening to the book when I heard the interview on Podioracket that Kenn had done. This added some insight to the story and some of the development.
I had enjoyed Dead Hunt and it’s wonderful cast of characters from the first episode. Knowing some of the back story has just enhanced my appreciation of the story. If anything taking away from the wonderful cast and narration behind it all is an engaging story. I look forward to further stories from Kenn and espicially the followup to this story.
This was certainly a great story and I hope others find it and give it a listen.

Thanks Dariclone,
and they will be addressed in Dead Hunt 2: Apocalypse.
I am glad you enjoyed it. Thanks so much.

Hi Chris,

Overall I must say that I liked it. It kept me interested and I really wanted Lucy to succeed. Renee’s narration was brilliant and definately took this story to the next level. I was so pleased to hear that she will be narrating Dead Hunt 2 as well. My only criticism is that there are a few loose ends and things that seem to get addressed and left behind or not explained properly. The ending I felt could have been left with Lucy and Michael freezing themselves since they had already surmised that Robin would continue to spread the virus. Even with these small things that I felt needed a little polishing it was good enough that I enjoyed myself immensely and would be more than happy to listen to the sequel and its wonderful cast of characters.

Thank you, Stefani, I am glad you enjoyed the story.
Dead Hunt 2 will be tie up some of the loose ends and others will be addressed in “The Dead Hunt Chronicles”, which is a side project I am working on to compliment Dead Hunt. Some of the cast has already agreed to do Dead Hunt 2 and the Chronicles so that is exciting, and I even have some new voices interested in roles too… this has been one heck of a ride. Thank you for taking that journey with us.

I didn’t know what to expect when I started listening to this. I am a digital artist, and like to be entertained while I work. This story has me riveted so far.
I live in Nova Scotia and thought I would give this a try since its awesome to have stories in familliar places.

This is a superb project with great audio.
I enjoyed the first two thirds of the book but then felt the author had paid less attention to the final third. This disappointed me but I hope that Dead Hunt 2 will have a complete start, middle and ending.
Good luck Ken.

Hi Kia,
I am glad you are enjoying the story so far. It was fun to have the story take place on Cape Breton. I also have a short story about a coal mining explosion that takes place in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. That audio short story is on my website (http://kenncrawford.com) and I am editing the audio for another Nova Scotian story – a true ghost story.
Once again, thanks for the comments and enjoy the rest of the story.

Thanks for listening Graham and for taking the time to post a reply.
Dead Hunt 2 starts where part 1 ends, so hopefully you will throughly enjoy it. Thanks for the kudos on the audio aspect of things. It was a lot of work, but worth every minute when I listen to the final result. The cast rocks!

I went on a Dead Hunt binge and finished the book over the last couple of days while doing housework. It’s a old school B-movie style horror story (teenagers -and cheerleaders at that!- going to a deserted house in the country and getting attacked by zombies and I just love this sort of thing.
The cast is top notch and the narrator does a fantastic job!
I have one tiny nitpick. As an Australian, I have never, ever met an Aussie called ‘Wade’. It strikes me as a very American name (maybe Canadian too, I don’t know). Plus if you really want to go all out with the cultural stereotypes he should be nicknamed “Wazza”. That’s just how we do things down here.

Just finished the last episode of Dead Hunt last night. I really liked it.
I’ve downloaded quite a few audiobooks but this is only the second I listened to one all the way through. I think many writers put too much in, too much plot, characters etc. and it’s hard to follow. But with Dead Hunt the story was quite linear, and having different people do the characters really made it much easier listening.
This is the best podiobook I’ve downloaded.

Thanks Jenny. Glad you enjoyed it.
Ironically, I Googled common Australian names and Wade was one of the names. Of course, that search was three years ago, but that’s where I came up with the name Wade. LOL

Hi Jaydin
Thanks for the wonderful feedback. I am glad you really enjoyed the story. The cast that voiced Dead Hunt did an amazing job. I am very impressed with the quality of the work they put into it.
Many of them have already agreed to be a part of Dead Hunt 2. Some will be new characters because so many got killed off in book one LOL
Thanks again

After all of the years of watching zombie stories on TV I was a bit apprehensive about listening to a podcast zombie novel. Well I am glad that I did!
I drive a truck for a living and I search endlessly for stories that help the miles melt away and yours did exactly that. I was able to lose myself in the story, the narration and the characters and enjoyed every turn and twist.
When I get so involved in a story that I am shouting at the characters, telling them either to do a certain thing or to stop then I know the story has pulled me into its grasp.
Well done and I am on the edge of my seat (almost literally) in anticipation of part 2! Thanks for the ride!

Thanks you Clifton. I am glad you enjoyed the story so much.
Book 2 is coming along nicely so get the throat lozenges ready for more shouting.
Drive safe,
Kenn

Great book. I listened to it and got a friend to listen too. We were excited by the ending. And we are waiting for book 2. We were discussing “Gundlach’s law” the other day after our conversation ended up on your book. Gundlachs law states that as a conversation progresses it will end up discussing zombies, one form or another. Which every zombie fan knows… and it happened,we ended up in a discussion about your book. Robin in particular and proved Gundlach’s Law… thank you for your interesting twist on the story. Waiting for part 2

Hi James,
Glad you enjoyed the book and the twist on the story. I am working hard on Book 2 and will let everyone know as soon as it is ready.
I never heard of Gundlach’s Law until you posted it, so I Googled it and the #1 hit was Dead Hunt on Podiobooks, #3 was the Wiki on the law. That was kinda cool. LOL
Interesting “law”… I wonder if I can fit that into book 2? Hmmmm
Thanks again,
Kenn

Hey Ken,
I’ve emailed about a half a year back or so, but I just wanted to say that I thoroughly enjoy your book. 1st, 2nd, and yes, even a third time through.
I’ve managed to convince a few of my Zombie-loving friends (3 to be exact…) to download the free podiobook as well as purchase a copy of your paperback. I absolutely LOVE the lore and I can’t wait for Dead Hunt 2.
Keep up the great work, and don’t worry about a finish date! Just so long as it meets or exceeds the awesomeness of the first Dead Hunt, then you’ll do just fine. I’m quite sure that all of your loyal fans will wait patiently for your next book when it’s ready. Good luck!

Just listened to the story in one sitting, and I don’t do that often. It was great!
The characters, voices, sound quality. Very very good. A compelling story that keeps you listening.
You can tell that a lot of care and attention has gone into the story and the production.
Can’t wait for the next story.
Keep it coming.
