Now releasing Into the Woods by David Wood

Please welcome David Wood to the site. He’s releasing the serialized audiobook version of his historical fiction tale, Into the Woods:

Set against the backdrop of colonial America, Into the Woods is the story of pioneer and patriot Jonathan Wood. Straining against the bonds of Tidewater society and tempted by an ancient legent, Jonathan’s sense of adventure leads him over the mountains of southwest Virginia. Perils abound for this brave pioneer, who must face threats from the native tribes, the British, and even more sinister enemies, while fighting for the woman he loves, and the land that will not let go of his heart. Based on a true story, Into the Woods is a tale of adventure, danger, love, and the triumph of the human spirit.

A well crafted historical fiction that transported me back to the days of the colonists and the native Americans with occasional visits by significant characters from the time, the main plot moves at a solid pace and everything is drawn up into a nice neat conclusion by the end.

Into the Woods by David Wood is exactly the type of story I love. It is the life of one man who happens to be a normal man, living as an explorer/fur trapper in our country’s early history. He had to make difficult decisions in his life, the same ones we know were made everyday in that place, during that time. I love history and diaries and this story was very entertaining for me.

I was captured from the beginning, however, the sound quality is very bad on many of the chapters, and almost each one has a different sound. Some even hurt my ears and I had to turn it down very low. It sounds as if each chapter were recorded in a different place, on different equipment by different people.

This is a podcast of a very good story that would really benefit being re-recorded.
