Now releasing Web of Life by Paul J. Joseph

I think this is a continuation of Homesick, but I’m awaiting confirmation from Paul on that. In the mean time, enjoy Web of Life by Paul J. Joseph:

Sally Buds had scarcely arrived on Earth before she is called back into service. She is, of course, Earth’s only real expert on the evil Masters on New Ontario, but now there may be trouble coming from this side of the fold! A Japanese ship representing the Asian Economic Alliance is now heading towards the fold and UN Command fears that they may be trying to forge an alliance with the Masters.

This time Sally’s crew includes a battalion of soldiers armed with deadly weapons. But, as before, the mission turns out to be different than expected. Trapped and a realm that makes no logical sense and defies physics, Sally’s crew encounters an intelligence beyond human reasoning and a beast which stalks them mercilessly seeking revenge for a crime they can’t imagine.

Hi Paul. I was thrilled to see this next installment. I enjoyed Homesick and Marker Stones a lot. There’s more going on in Web and it’s less polished than the first two, but story and the characters keep me downloading week after week. Thanks for continuing to present your work in this format.

  3. Paul Jlseph Says:

    Jane,

Thank you for writing to me, and I appreciate your insights. You are right that Web of Life is a different sort of book than the other two, and I am glad you feel that its essence overcomes some of its shortcomings. I think you will like the next book much better, by the way. This one is kind of like the black sheep of the series.

Great book, has me on the edge of my iPod/ear-buds, can someone come up with a catch phrase here? Anyway check it out it’s a great listen. The characters have different personalities that aren’t shallow. For example just when I thought one had a black or white personality, he showed there is a lot more to his thought process and reasoning (the Colonel), I would like to see more of this. We need more stories like this in Science Fiction. Maybe it will filter its way to Hollywood, I doubt it, A block buster SciFi movie with character development, keep dreaming?

  5. Paul Jlseph Says:

    Mark,

Thank you for the kind words! The Colonel is actually a puzzling character even to me, and it is hard to say whether he is good or bad, but he is a force of nature, to be sure. There are also more books in the series, all of which will be available soon. Thanks again! No help on a catch phrase for the iPod, I’m afraid. I’m stumped on that as well.

I am loving this book! The irst thing yhat caught my attention was the relationship between Sally and Jackie. It’s great to see such a loving relationship between two women at the centre of a sci-fi story.
Almost immediatly though, I was drawn into the story. The other character’s are all intersting, well-round people and Swipe has my captured my heart. His plight mirors those of animal’s today. It’s an imprtant topic to think about.
This is the first of Pal. J. Joseph’s books I have listened to and know I want to read/listen to them all.

  7. Paul Jlseph Says:

    Jen,

Thank you for your kind words. Sally and Jackie were actually a surprise to me as well. Believe it or not, Sally was originally going to be a minor character, but she ended up stealing the show and Jackie is clearly a part of her appeal. I hope you enjoy all the other books as well. The first two are available now, Marker Stone and Homesick. And others are coming soon. Thanks again.

Just finished listening to most recent podcast. I did enjoy web of life but not as much as the others (which I loved), but having listened to some of your answers to other comments I see why this is the case. The snippet you gave us from Splashdown has really fueled my desire for more. I’ve really grown to love Sally’s character (and Ian’s also). In web of life I found the religious slant interesting. As a Christian I find the whole area of theist / atheist debate very complex. Things are never as straightforward as they seem on the surface. I think you handled the religion issue on the ship well. Seriously great Scifi. Thanks!

  13. Paul Jlseph Says:

    Raymond,

Thank you for your interest and I am glad you enjoyed the story to the extent that you did. Yes, I think you will like Splashdown more because it takes a critical step further in the development of many things in the characters and their interaction. I’m glad you are not offended by the depiction of some of the Christian characters in the story. At the time I wrote it I was a different type of Christian and had been exposed to some poor examples. It wasn’t so much Christians being criticized but those who misuse Christianity for power, I suppose. In any case, thanks and I’ll try to keep you entertained.

  14. Norm Says:

    Paul,

No criticism, no just plain old good enjoyment. Looking forward to Splasdown.

How will we know when it’s ready?

  15. Paul Jlseph Says:

    Norm,

Thanks for listening! I plan to make an announcement as soon as I get started with Splashdown. Usually we have a Facebook event announced in conjunction with Podiobooks. If you want, I can also send you an email. Just email me through my website http://www.throughthefold.com

    Enjoying this series.
    Just finished Web of Life.
Looking forward to the next installment.
The reason there have been no comments earlier is I tend to download a podcast completely before starting to listen – the whole weekly wait (www) is too frustrating.
    Check for my donation :)

  17. Paul Jlseph Says:

    Lyall,

Thank you for listening! I tend to download all at once, too, so I suppose that would be a factor. Thanks for the donation and I hope to keep entertaining!

I can’t wait till splashdown ill be waiting

  19. daniel Says:

paul, thanks for the the audiobook.
i did listen to a few of the other popular titles here, but yours is the first i appreciated enough to make a donation for.
offcourse hoping u will continue to write and narrate more books and long series.

i think it were the first two episodes of the second book where i noticed the soundquality as painful, quickly compared it to the first book and it did sound like spoken in a tin can. later it was better again or i simply didnt notice it anymore/got used to it.

as for the story… a short time the masters seemed too stupid and cruel to be believable, but i enjoyed that book the most anyway and it isnt something i would want to be different.
