Welcome to the Prequel stories of the superhero story the Legion of Nothing. These stories take place in 1943 and 1953. The stories revolve around Nick’s ( the Rocket ) Grandfather the original Rocket during World War II attempting to stop the Reich’s acquisition of a super weapon. Cool! More Legion of Nothing.
This lacked some of the charm of the previous Podiobook offering due to the lack of the young protagonists and more serious tone, but it is still good fun and sets the series up for more interesting stories in the future. I understand that there is a good deal of stories already written and not yet podcast in this series and would encourage the producers to continue and for anyone who hasn’t done so to give this a listen.
The production values are definitely a work in progress. The technical aspects are fine, but Daniel Blumberg isn’t going to be mistaken for Patrick Stewart (or even John Stewart) any time soon. But nor should he. The voice caries a definite respect for the characters and the listeners. The way in which things aren’t quite so perfect and have the feel of learning as you go works well in narrating a story where that’s exactly what the characters are doing.
